Japan’s “You’re Beautiful” sees a rise in viewer ratings thanks to

Jang Geun Suk’s cameo

Actor Jang Geun Suk finally made his cameo appearance in the Japanese remake of his hit drama, ‘You’re Beautiful‘.  Thanks to his special appearance, the drama experienced a sharp rise in viewer ratings, thus demonstrating the power of the ‘Jang Geun Suk Effect’.
The drama usually records an average of 9.5% in viewer ratings, but the episode with Jang Geun Suk’s cameo saw an increase to 10.1%. Although Jang Geun Suk enjoys great popularity in Japan, this was his first time appearing in a Japanese drama. Thanks to his Japanese lessons, the actor managed to complete his scenes in fluent Japanese without any NG cuts.
Jang Geun Suk also refused pay for his role, commenting, “I made a cameo for the fans who love the drama and me. I hope that they’ll use my compensation for the benefit of the drama.”
A Japanese representative said, “It’s because of such actions that Jang Geun Suk has become a much-loved actor in Korea and Japan.”
